Eat Real Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants.

Eat Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants. Genius, huh? Well... compared with how the majority of us in the Western Hemisphere eat, it's actually revolutionary! Michael Pollan, renowned author of "In Defense of Food", introduced this mantra that's been adopted by many of the world's health and nutrition experts. I'll let him explain to you here what he means by that in three minutesNow, I might add "drink more water" to his list, but I'm no expert ;) 

"Our most profound engagement with the natural world happens on our plates." - Michael Pollan. THINK ABOUT IT! When we eat, and especially when we eat REAL food (fruit, vegetables, animals, etc...), we are engaging with our natural world in the most fundamental, natural way... taking something that either came from the ground or breathed on this earth and ingesting it so our bodies can systematically break it down into the building blocks of our cells. We use that breakdown of nutrients to create and fuel our existence. How wild is that? It's something that we don't often think about in our culture, but having that awareness can fundamentally change the way we eat. When you focus on having a true, visceral connection to what you put into your body, WHAT YOU PUT INTO YOUR BODY will drastically change. 

NEWSFLASH! There will always be a time and a place for those processed foods we've all grown up to love so much. There will always be a time and a place for drinks with friends, dessert with family, a juicy burger and thick cut fries at your favorite restaurant, or Chinese delivery on a quiet night in. However, if you want to change your body (and thus, your world), you'll need to consistently make the healthy, long-term decision to fuel your body the right way. It's hard. But it's so, SO worth it. Today, tomorrow, next year, and 50 years from now. Every single future version of yourself will thank you every single time you choose to eat real foods, not too much of them, and mostly plants... (& drink more water ;))
